Want to know what are the best SmartTV TVs on the market in 2020? Need to compare brands of TVs and their Smart TV systems
Looks like the term’s fashionable. You’re going to buy a TV, and the first thing you ask is if it’s a Smart TV

DATA: Keep in mind that the new 2020 TV models are already among us. This means that it is a good time to buy the 2019 models at an excellent price. If you want the latest technology, you’ll have to pay a little more.

What is Smart TV? What does it mean for our TV to be smart?

There really isn’t a standard in the industry… It doesn’t mean the same “Smart TV” for Samsung as it does for LG, although obviously there are similarities.

Main features of a Smart TV

In 2019, if you buy a TV with these features, you will have access to certain applications such as YouTube, RTVE, Antena 3, Angry Birds, Deezer, EMT, Spotify, Twitter, Facebook, Gmail, Real Madrid, NetFlix, HBO or not…

  • They can record and play movies.
  • They can be connected to the internet via WIFI or Ethernet connection.
  • You can install apps to improve their capabilities: YouTube, RTVE, Antenna 3, Spotify, Twitter, Facebook…
  • You can connect USB devices.
  • They can become your stereo with a good soundbar.
  • You can download videos.
  • And you can watch traditional TV channels.

It depends on the brand you buy or the country you are in. And besides, each manufacturer will be able to have specific applications of games, movies, social… It will also change the way we browse TV, which can be very important when it comes to having a good user experience.

Brands of TVs that make Smart TVs? Many. Here are some of them: Philips, Samsung, Sharp, Hisense, LG, Panasonic, Sony, Toshiba…

What are the best Smart TVs in India 2021?

1.-LG Smart TV (WEBOS)

The system chosen by LG (webOS) to show us all channels and applications is one of the simplest and easiest to use. SmartShare software shows us any video, photo or mp3 stored on a PC, Mac, USB, hard drive or NAS that we have on the same network, which can be very interesting and comfortable to be able to view all the content that we have stored without having to do anything at all.

The number of formats it supports is spectacular and also automatically provides us with information about each movie or series that we have thanks to MediaLink.

LG has a lot of applications: Games like Perfect Kick, Cinetrailer, Eurosport, Disney Channel, Leroy Merlin, Yomvi, Youtube, Wuaki, SkypeTotal Channel, Magine, Cosmo, RTVE, Pocoyó, Netflix, Spotify, Hola…

Other interesting new features include 360-degree video playback (from 360-degree videos on YouTube).

LG TV Remote app allows us to connect our Smartphone with the TV and duplicate the screen. Best of all: Easier to use impossible, and we won’t have to spend a lot of money to have this great system:

LG OLED55CX-ALEXA 2020 – Smart TV 4K OLED

  • Compatible with 100% HDR formats
  • 4K OLED 139cm (55″) with Artificial Intelligence
  • Dolby Vision/ATMOS Sound
  • Operating system smart tv WebOS 5.0
  • 14-Bit 4K Intelligent Processor 9 Gen3 with Integrated Deep Learning

LG’s mid-range to power. Spectacular what this TV has to offer. An OLED TV with an excellent 4K image, spectacular for use for gaming (supports 4K/120Hz, something the PS5 or Xbox Series X needs and supports HDR Gaming Interest Group)… and much cheaper than last year’s C9.

The design remains excellent; the operating system continues to work very well (and has AI capabilities) and upscaling response. It has 4 HDMI 2.1 ports. The sound responds but is not spectacular.

The colours it offers are deep and the contrast tremendous. The depth of the blacks is spectacular and is brighter than the C9 models (although it is not the brightest OLED TV). It has TruMotion, Cinema Clear and Dolby Vision.

LG 65C9PLA TV 65-Inch Smart TV

  • 65″ OLED UHD 4K HDR Display (3840 x 2160 pixels)
  • ThinQ AI system with speech recognition and control
  • Smart TV WebOS 4.5
  • Built-in WiFi and Bluetooth 5.0
  • Dolby ATMOS 40W Power and 2.2Ch Sound System
  • DVB-T2/DVB-C/DVB-S2 tuners
  • LAN, HDMI, USB recorder and media player
  • Magic remote included and headphone output

It’s still a good buy, especially now that it’s down priced. Spectacular… OLED technology is taken to another level. The best input TV to the 4K OLED. It doesn’t offer images as bright as those provided by an LCD TV, but its blacks are intense, and that shows in HDR. Its contrast is tremendous, and the sound is excellent.

The level of detail is excellent, and the colours spectacular. Its SmartTV system is one of the best in 2020. Hit? Lack of detail at both ends of the brightness scale and its price is somewhat high.

2.-Panasonic My Home Screen 3.0 (Firefox OS)

Panasonic has moved to Firefox OS (My Home Screen 4.0) and is one of the most customizable and best-looking platforms of all. In 2019 they renewed the interface, and now we have Home Screen 4.0 and a whole screen full of icons with an interesting carousel that allows us to access all the applications.

It’s all effortless with all the icons for the TV, apps, devices or TV channels present on the screen. On the home page, we have 14 apps, the main and most used ones.

You’ll find Netflix in 4K with HDR, Amazon Video, YouTube, AccuWeather, calendars, TV channels, WEB browser etc… It doesn’t have all google options, but it can be customized very easily.

One model that stands out for Panasonic price-quality is as follows: Panasonic TX-55HZ2000E, available since September 2020. Spectacular image quality with Dolby Vision, 4K ULTRA HD, HDR10+.

3.-Samsung Smart Hub and Tizen OS

Samsung’s approach to Smart TV is still called Smart Hub but has changed quite a bit since 2016. It is based on the Tizen OS circulating on other Samsung devices

Samsung shows us a lot of access to services and apps at the bottom of the screen. It suggests new sources and programs that we have recently seen.

But the best thing is that we can easily modify the icons that we are seeing and choose the apps that we use the most for the home screen.

Smart Hub has a screen where you can easily search for all the apps and devices connected to the TV. And you’re going to find Netflix, Amazon Instant or YouTube, for example.

Samsung QLED 4K 2020 65Q80T – 65″ Smart TV with 4K UHD Resolution

  • 4K and HDR 10+ Artifical Intelligence
  • Active Voice Amplifier (AVA) TV adjusts the volume and clarity of dialogs
  • Direct full array hdr 1500 with a brightness of up to 1500 nits
  • Voice Assistants (Bixby, Google Assistant, or Alexa)
  • Ots (object tracking sound) thanks to its 6 speakers and artificial intelligence, the sound plays only in the exact place where the action occurs
  • Ambient Mode+ (camouflage the TV with the wall), One Remote Control

We keep this part of Samsung’s range because they add enough without raising the price of TV much. If you switch to Q70T models, you’re starting to lose some pretty interesting things, and they don’t inform you of the brightness of your TV.

The OTS sound is really well achieved, the 4K image is crisp, the HDR is vibrant and the image shows no “lag”. The design is normal but does not disalent.

It is a bit irritating how much advertising they offer in the TV menus (it can be blocked by DNS or directly on the router). The display doesn’t support Samsung’s anti-glare, so you’d better keep it away from bright lights. You don’t have Dolby Vision.

Samsung QLED 4K 2019 65Q64R – 65″ Smart TV with 4K UHD Resolution

  • Samsung QLED
  • The first TV with the Apple TV app (and AirPLay 2)
  • Quantum dot: inorganic technology that reproduces 100% of the colour volume with any level of brightness
  • Artificial intelligence 4k: improves image and sound to 4k quality
  • Smart tv: through the premium one remote, discover an easy and intuitive platform
  • Q HDR 2000
  • 4 HDMI connections
  • 2 USB connections
  • Optical cable connection
  • Premium one remote: a single remote control to control all your connected devices and easily access your content
  • Ambient mode: forget about black screens and camouflage the TV with your wall
  • Smart brightness sensor: automatically, the tv will recognize the brightness level of the environment

A Samsung TV with 4K and HDR 2000 with Full Array Local Dimming, which has greatly improved both brightness and color. HDR performance is spectacular. The color level is tremendous and the screen is really bright. Its SmartTV system is the best you will find and the only drawback you can put on this model is that the sound is not too good or that the brightness could be a little better.

4.-Sony: Android TV

Sony is probably offering the best SmartTV platform of the year as it is using Android to get a very complete system.

Indeed, Android, the system that we all know for smartphones or tablets and that is expanding like the swamp thing. Sharp and Philips are following the same path, which means that the Android TV System has reached great maturity.

In this system we will find very prominent access to YouTube or Google Video and certain Sony services and applications such as NetFlix or Amazon Instant. Also to Google Play Store, Google Play Music, Google Play Movies and TV.

In addition, Sony TVs have good storage up to 16GB and if you have an Android device you can easily control the TV from your device.

Eye! Android is the least stable of the various SMART TV Platforms, and Sony TVs have some point-in-time glitches with this OS. It can be solved by restarting the device. Google is working on a solution.

And the good thing is that it supports ATSC 3.0: it offers 4K resolution and HDR content for live streaming, along with much better sound and interactive features.

Conclusion: The best Smart TVs in 2021

One of the biggest concerns when buying us a TV is what Smart TV operating system we are going to encounter. Fortunately these last few years we are encountering very simple OS to use with great icons and many clear options. The best platforms give us a direct access to our content without taking much spin.

Access to apps and the internet has become a critical part of our TV. All TVs offer access to Netflix and Amazon Instant Video (Amazon’s option has not yet arrived in Spain, but is expected to do so shortly). But also many other digital services.

There is no standard in the industry and every 2 or 3 years we have noticeable changes in these platforms. WebOS, Tizen, Firefox and Android operating systems dominate the landscape in 2019.

Clearly Samsung, LG, Panasonic and Sony offer us the best experience in Smart TVs, and if we had to filter a little more we stayed with Sony and Panasonic systems in 2018. Sony has taken spectacular steps in recent years to improve its SmartTV system by adopting Android TV and Panasonic has done the same with Firefox OS.
